BulletSafe Level IV Hard Armor Plates - Info and Details
If you already own a Bulletsafe VP3 or IIIA vest, it comes with soft armor rated at Level IIIA protection. Level IIIA is capable of stopping all pistol calibers up to a .44 Magnum. If you feel like you are in need of more protection from AR, AK and other rifle calibers, such as armor piercing .30-06, the Level IV Standalone Ballistic Plate is for you.
These plates offer Standalone Level IV protection which means it does not need to be used in conjunction with the soft armor inside the vest. You can remove the soft armor from the VP3 or IIIA vest through the velcro opening on the inside of the Front and Rear carrier.
The soft armor does provide a greater area of IIIA protection on the shoulder and hip area of the vest, so many choose to leave it in and add the plate in conjunction.
On the outside of each carrier (front and back) is a velcro opening at the top of each carrier. Inside of this pocket is an elastic band that will hold the hard armor in place. Be sure to use the elastic band to prevent the plate from shifting within the carrier.
The Plates can also be worn with our Tactical Plate Carrier which itself is not bulletproof, it simply carries the plates in a comfortable and easily mobile way
The Level IV Standalone Plate can also be used with vests that are not BulletSafe products. The dimensions of the plate are 10"x12" weighing in at 7.5lbs and roughly 1 inch thick. As long as your vest is designed to hold a plate of these dimensions, it should be compatible.
